semillites is a brown and trans non-binary visual artist and printmaker based in “vancouver”, on the unceded territory of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam Nations. semillites was born in mexico city in 1995, at the age of nineteen they immigrated to Vancouver. semillites comes from a family of campesinos in central méxico but grew up far from the land. they look for a path to get back to their roots through their art practice.

semillites’artwork focuses mainly on portraits depicting joy, pleasure and the intricate emotions of brown and trans bodies through drawing, book making and screen-printing. their art practicefollows the same principles that their ancestors taught them: solidarity, collaboration and horizontality
